This five-star hotel has collaborated with the nearby Australian Museum to provide prime access to the fascinating Relics exhibition, which runs until the end of the January school holidays.
The exhibit explores a dystopian ‘post-human’ world where LEGO mini-figurines have discovered 'relics' of our old civilisation and created their new habitats in a post-apocalyptic world. Think cryogenic resorts inside a vintage refrigerator, typewriters-turned-newsrooms, an old Volkswagen, a deserted jet ski, and a retro juke box!
This special package ensures a luxurious overnight stay and includes a delicious buffet breakfast and entry tickets to the fascinating Relics exhibit.
I recently stole my 13-year-old son away from his PS5 for this cool Staycation, the perfect way to rediscover our own city without the end-of-day commute stress.
The exhibition, created by LEGO® Masters winners Jackson Harvey and Alex Towler, was genuinely surprising. It’s more than just intricate lego builds but an interactive art experience that subtly sparks conversations about our consumerist world.
A must-do is the interactive scavenger hunt, a brilliant plus for all ages, as it forces you to engage with the incredible creative detail in each masterpiece.
One of our favourites was Beetlesville, where an old 1960’s Volkswagen is now a rusted monument to humanity’s crude oil collapse. Allow about an hour for a leisurely, thought-provoking discovery. You won’t be disappointed!
THE PULLMAN HOTEL
The Pullman Hotel is perfectly positioned on College Street, just a few minutes’ stroll from the Museum, St Mary’s Cathedral, and the Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW). After a day in the hustle and bustle, the hotel itself truly becomes the destination.
An unexpected feature was the gorgeous rooftop pool and recreation deck offering sweeping, uninterrupted views across the City and Sydney Harbour! For couples or older teens, take advantage of the late-night hours: pop up for a sauna and spa under the City lights until 11 pm.
It's a truly memorable opportunity to experience a night of inner-city luxury. The stylishly furnished rooms evoke warmth and come equipped with all the required amenities, but the real touch of class is the 'pillow menu,' ensuring a well-needed, customisable sleep after your day in the city.
While you're only a short walk from the main drag on Oxford and George Streets, you don’t really need to leave the hotel. It boasts its own highly-regarded ‘Bar Thirty6’ dining room, which offers a wide selection of tempting local and international dishes. The menu ranges from freshly shucked Oysters and a premium Scotch Fillet to a seared caramelised Banana Split with fresh berries and ice cream. A perfect end to a stimulating day!
